HALEY, Ernestine Boye, 90, of Caroline County, the widow of Jesse C. Haley Jr., passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2011. She was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Boye; and a sister, Katherine Minor. She is survived by a daughter, Ann H. Long (Norman); three grandchildren, Jessica Kovalcik (John), Corine Barber (Robby) and Travis Long (Carmen); and four great-grandchildren, Archer, Madison, Haley and August (Gus). Mrs. Haley was born in Youngstown, Ohio, and at the age of 9, the family moved to Brownsville, Texas. She was an active member of the Altar Guild and ECW in the Episcopal Church and a charter member of Doswell Woman's Club. She loved to play Bridge, watch birds, arrange flowers and care for her dogs, Itty-Bit and Sam. She was a great hostess and a kind neighbor. The family will receive family and friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., with a Eastern Star service at 7 p.m. Sunday, January 23 in the Nelsen Funeral Home-Reid Chapel, 412 South Washington Hwy., Ashland, Va. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Monday, January 24, 2011 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church at Hanover Courthouse. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. in Signal Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to either St. Paul's Episcopal Church, P.O. 441, Hanover, Va. 23069, or Bon Secours Hospice, 8580 Magellan Pkwy., Richmond, Va. 23227.
