Erwin Eugene Ross

Erwin Eugene Ross, 61, of Warner Robins, Georgia, passed away on January 24, 2026, in Atlanta, Georgia. He was born on December 26, 1964, in Heilbronn, Germany, to the late Edward Ross and Eloise Ross (Lovette).

After graduating high school, Erwin proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force, dedicating his life to service to his country. During his distinguished career, he worked as an F-15 crew chief, served in C-130 gunship maintenance, and later became the Maintenance Facility Manager at the Museum of Aviation in Warner Robins, Georgia. Erwin honorably served during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. While serving as an F-15 crew chief, he and his crew were the first to arrive with F-15 aircraft during Desert Shield and Desert Storm-an achievement he carried with pride.

Beyond his military career, Erwin had a deep passion for NASCAR. He was a devoted fan of Jeb Burton and Chase Elliott, admiring Jeb Burton so much that he proudly ran a Jeb Burton fan page on Facebook, connecting with fellow fans from around the country.

Erwin was preceded in death by his father, Edward Ross, and his brothers, Eric Ross and Randy Ross.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Kristy Smith Ross; his son, Alexander Dean Ross; his mother, Eloise Ross (SC); and his cousin, Jackie Blair (Kenny), along with many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, February 2, 2026 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory. A memorial service will be held at Sandy Valley Baptist Church on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 3:00pm. Bro. Stephen Woods and Bro. Phil Bryant will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Sandy Valley Baptist Church Benevolent Fund in honor of Erwin's memory.
