Wiley Riner Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory on Jan. 27, 2026.
Wiley Marvin Riner, Jr., "Buddy," age 72, passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2026. He was born on September 13, 1953, in Swainsboro, Georgia, to Wiley Marvin Riner, Sr. and Julia Loyd Riner.

Marvin attended Swainsboro High School and, following graduation, entered the United States Air Force. He served during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Guam at Andersen Air Force Base/SAC. He was proud to serve his country and formed lifelong friendships and memories during his service.

He later attended Macon Technical School, where he earned an associate degree in machining. Marvin retired from McCann Aerospace Machining Corporation of Macon/Athens, where he worked as a quality control inspector.

Marvin enjoyed fishing, hunting, arrowhead hunting, playing guitar, collecting movies, writing, and riding motorcycles. He dearly loved his cats and had a natural gift as an "animal whisperer." He was always ready to tell a story or a joke that could always render laughter. He leaves a legacy of making a difference in the lives of all who knew and loved him through his kindness and his love of life.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy Jenkins Riner of Reynolds, Georgia; his son, Christopher Riner (Michelle) of Roberta; his grandson, Braylon Riner (Kalaylah) of Culloden; granddaughters, Skylar Riner and Brittany Parrish; great-grandson, Gage; and great-granddaughters, Finley and Bowen Riner. He is also survived by his sisters, Audrey Canady of Aurora, Colorado, and Sheila McRae (Bruce) of Byron, Georgia; nephews, Clint Canady (Christina) of Arvada, Colorado, and Brandon Canady (Crystal) of Aurora, Colorado; and great-nephews, Connor, Cooper, and Cayde.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A service to honor the life of Marvin will be held on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at 2:00pm in the chapel of Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel & Crematory, with a visitation for family and friends being held one hour prior to service.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly request donations be made to a favorite charity of your choice in Marvin's name.
