Erwin Berlin Williams

Erwin Berlin Williams, son of Florence and Frank Williams, gracefully departed this life at home surrounded by his loving family, August 30, 2025, in Portsmouth, Virginia.
He was educated in the Portsmouth Public School System. Erwin, affectionately known as Hank, Mask Man, or Berl, graduated from Crestwood High School, Class of "65". He was also a graduate of the University of Maryland, Eastern Shore. Erwin was a former professional football player of the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1969, #43.
Erwin was former member and Trustee of New Baptist Church of Taylorsville and later, Sunday School Superintendent and Sunday School Superintendent, and Sunday School Teacher of St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church.
A fierce man of God, a true provider, and a protector. Erwin was a wonderful, loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and much more. Erwin loved trucking (providing for his girls), fishing, traveling, his westerns, sports, and most of all spending time with his family, especially his grandboy, aka Big Boy.
His love, strength, and faith touched everyone around him. Erwin's presence will forever be missed.
Erwin was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Florence Williams; siblings, George, Dora, Annie Mae, and Elton Williams.
Erwin leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Ethel Williams; two daughters, Dora and Sharmaine Williams; one grandson, Naziir Williams; a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, and other relatives and friends.
