I am so proud of Esau and what he did for himself, his family, his community, and his country. There has never been a student or player from one of my teams, who has impacted me more. When you're teaching or coaching kids in school, it is difficult to imagine how their lives will turn out. In Esau's case, I never knew how many accomplishments he would achieve in his brief life. He is a hero, and words can't express my sympathy for his family. Esau graduated from La Puente High School, the same year that I left teaching and coaching soccer at LPHS. I can remember his smile and laughter through the years he was playing soccer. He was a great teammate and loved soccer which was his passion. I am forever grateful for having the opportunity to know such a fine human being. Ten years later, we can't forget our heroes. Esau is my hero, and the ultimate La Puente High School Warrior.

Del was a great friend, a great soldier, a great leader,and a great person. We deployed together in 2006. He was the friend you looked for when you need strength to carry on. Never put himself first. He will never be forgotten! Until we meet again brother!

”Honor and Remember” - “Project Compassion” We love our Soldiers! We love our country and we cannot express enough love and compassion to the families of our fallen heroes. War does not discriminate – It breaks our hearts to see the faces of the fallen. We want to give this gift to the hero’s Mother, Father and/or spouse. We are a 501c3 nonprofit organization! Over 1,800 portraits have been completed and shipped to the parents and or spouse - at no cost as this is a gift from one American to another!
This is a gift! We have some wonderful sponsors who help with the costs, and only want you know that we care.
Contact us directly at [email protected] or go to www.heropaintings.com . If you have already had a portrait completed, we pray that you are enjoying the portrait and God Bless You.
Sincerely and Respectfully,
Kenna

Prayer for Peace
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen

To the parents and family, I offer my heartfelt sorrow for the death of your loved one. So many times we don’t understand why this has to happen to us but know that you aren’t alone. There are many who have also suffered the death of their loved ones and we know that you will get through the day one minute by minute. When my son was killed in action I thought the world would end but through connection with others who had gone through this terrible tragedy I found that I wasn’t alone. When and if you would like to reach out and talk, vent, cry or just know how to get through each minute of the day please contact me. You are now a Gold Star Family and as such you should know that many of us are here to help and listen. May God bless and comfort you each and every day.

The Final Salute
“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.
This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to our Brother-in-Arms S/SGT Esau De La Pena-Hernandez To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Esau. And to Esau it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the ultimate sacrifice he made for his country while opposing enemy forces in Afghanistan. No greater love is shown than a man lay down his life for another. Esau, you are a brave American Warrior, a true Patriot and a national Hero. With your passing, our Country has lost a National Treasure. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.
On behalf of the 1,309 members of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion in Shreveport, Louisiana, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Esau’s family and loved ones.

To the De La Pena-Hernandez family,
I know there are no words to say, except how sorry I am for your loss. May you hold Esaus' memory in your heart and please remember he shall never be forgotten.
...For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I’m home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I’m only a civilian
And I don’t even know if it’s allowed.
But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.

Esau, god bless you soldier and thank you for your service to a grateful nation, forever we will mourn you and all of our fallen heroes both before and after you. On 5/6/08 my nephew PFC Aaron J. Ward was killed in action in Iraq while on a routine patrol. My promise to him was that I would never forget him but also those fallen before and after him. When I made that promise to him the day we laid him to his final resting place I did not realize how often I would need to make entries on Legacy and it just breaks my heart knowing that so many other families have and will continue to feel the pain that our family has endured. Since the loss of my nephew I have written on every single legacy page of every fallen soldier and included a photo of my nephew. I encourage you to do the same to Aaron's page. I have done this to honor my nephew but to let you know Esau is not alone and my nephew is with him and they are now in God's gracious hands waiting for us to join them one day. De laPena-Hernandez family from the bottom of my heart please except my sincere condolences and may the memories of your Hero carry you through each day for he will never be forgotten!

Follow The Rainbow To Heaven.
===========================================
A Soldier had die out on the
battlefield;
Broken hearts are weeping For
Them,
But take comfort of knowing
that God had sent Them a
rainbow from heaven;
The Souls of the Soldiers
have gone to there home
in heaven,
Our Loved One's has follow
God's lovely rainbow in the
sky;
All the way to the end of the
sky.
That leads all the way to the
other end of the Lord's
house in heaven,
So just keep on praying and
trust that God will send us
that same rainbow in the sky
Where Our Loved One's are
waiting For You and For Me at
the end of the rainbow in
heaven.
