Esperanza Acuña, beloved matriarch, friend, and passionate spirit, moved on from this world peacefully on October 13, 2025, at her home in Tolleson, Arizona, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 1, 1941, in the charming town of Moctezuma, Sonora, Mexico. Her heart remained forever tied to her hometown, where she cherished countless memories, bringing joy and warmth into her life as she visited over the years.
Esperanza was not only a cherished wife, mother, and grandmother but also an extraordinary person who touched the lives of everyone she met. She shared a deep bond with her husband, Rafael Acuña, and together they created a vibrant family filled with love and laughter. Esperanza was the proud mother of Rafael and Francisco, guiding them with her wisdom and fierce devotion. She found immense joy in her role as grandmother to Felicia, Angelica, Marissa, Ralphie, Frankie, Manuel, and Andy, and was delighted by the 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild who graced her life, each bringing her immense joy.
Known for her love of fishing and cooking, Esperanza created many fond memories around the dining table, where she shared her culinary delights with family and friends. Her favorite color was purple, a reflection of her vibrant personality and the joy she brought to those around her.
She was predeceased by her son Manuel and her loving parents, Dolores and Elvira Arvizu. Their love and memories will always remain a cherished part of her legacy, woven into the fabric of her family's history.
The world has dimmed a little without her shining presence, but her spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of all who knew her. The visitation to honor her memory will be held on October 30, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at 8504 W Polk St, Tolleson, AZ. A funeral service celebrating her life will take place the following day, October 31, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church located at 512 North 93rd Avenue, Tolleson, AZ, followed by her burial at Holy Cross Cemetery in Avondale, AZ.
As we bid farewell to Esperanza, we hold onto the love she shared, the lessons she taught, and the immense kindness she embodied. She will be deeply missed, yet lovingly remembered in the stories we tell and the traditions we carry forward. Rest in peace, dear Esperanza, until we meet again.
