Esperanza Mata Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mehl's Colonial Chapel on Aug. 7, 2024.
Esperanza Mata, a lifelong resident of Watsonville, died on July 31, 2024. She was 57.
Esperanza was born in Watsonville on October 10, 1966, to proud parents, Antonio Rodriguez and Esperanza Aguirre. She later met and married the love of her life, Luis Alberto Mata. They raised their three daughters and were happily married for 24 years, until his passing.
Esperanza worked as a manager at a local dental office. She continued her education whilst raising her three daughters. She really enjoyed school and learning new skills, always aiming for a better life for herself and her children. She graduated from Cabrillo College with an associate's degree in accounting. Sadly, she was forced to retire in 2019 due to illness. She enjoyed attending church whenever possible and spending time with her friends and family but more than anything, she loved being with her grandchildren. Esperanza was a loving woman who will be missed dearly.
Esperanza is survived by her daughters, Irene, Jasmine, and Vanessa Mata, her siblings, Antonio, and Belen Rodriguez, and her three grandchildren, Belle, Faith, and Francisco Cervantes. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Luis Alberto Mata.
A viewing will be held at Mehl's Colonial Chapel – 222 E. Lake Avenue on Sunday, August 11 from 5 pm to 9 pm. A graveside service will be held at Valley Public Cemetery – 2445 E. Lake Avenue on Monday, August 12 starting at 11 am.
