NEW BOSTON-Estel L. Ottney, 85, died June 22, 2023, in the SOMC Hospice Center. Born on January 22,1938 in Wheelersburg, she was a daughter of the late Ebert and Julia Bobst Williams and was formerly employed at William's Manufacturing Co. and Mitchellace.
Not only did Wheelersburg lose one of their biggest supporters, as Estel was the concession stand manager for over 20 years for the Wheelersburg Athletic Association, but she attended all games possible, and listened to those games unable to attend.
A graduate of Wheelersburg High School in 1956, she was a member of Wheelersburg United Methodist Church and a volunteer for the American Red Cross for ten years. Her last words spoken at hospice were "Who won the game?"
Also preceding her in death were her husband, William "Bill" Ottney, and brothers, Ebert Williams, Jr., Edward Williams, and Earl Williams.
Surviving are her daughter, Lisa (Chris) Allen of Wheelersburg; two brothers,Ernest Williams of New Boston and Willard (Dianne) Williams of Dayton; three grandchildren, Julie (Jesse) Dadosky, Sarah Allen and Rachel (Andrew) Rawlings and special great-grandchildren, Jae, Joey, Brycen, Quinton and Hannah and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Estel's Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 26th, at Wheelersburg United Methodist Church with Pastor Perry Prosch officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive guests at the church from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday and from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Monday.
Arrangements are under the direction of the BRANT FUNERAL SERVICE IN SCIOTOVILLE.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wheelersburg Athletic Association or the SOMC Hospice Center.
