Estelle Salmon, age 89, passed away Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Nixa Nursing and Rehab. She was born June 9, 1934 in Piedmont, Alabama, the daughter of William Washington Forrister and Estella (Loren) Forrister. On December 23, 1951, Estelle and Alvin Salmon were united in marriage in Bowling Green, Florida. They enjoyed over sixty-five years together.
Estelle's first priority was to her family. She was a homemaker who was always present with her family to meet all their needs first. She devoted herself to her husband and her children. And later in life she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Estelle was a great story teller and had joy in telling her adventurous and funny stories of farm life growing up. She often would get so tickled telling these stories she couldn't finish for laughing.
Estelle was a member of Raleigh Assembly of God in Memphis, Tennessee, where she served the Lord faithfully in many ministries. First and foremost Estelle was a “Prayer Warrior.” Many friends and family members consulted her for prayer and counsel. She was the president of the women's ministry at the church for years. Estelle had a heart for missions and was on the missions committee. She taught Sunday school for many years and was involved in Missionettes. She also started a girls' juvenile court prison ministry where she ministered to young girls in the juvenile system. She also helped with the Royal Family Kids summer camp.
Estelle was a professional seamstress who had an alteration business. She also made beautiful custom wedding gowns for her family and friends.
Survivors include: Estelle's three sons and their wives, Sonny and Rhonda Salmon of Nixa, Keith and Debi Salmon of Jackson, Tennessee, and Byron and Dee Salmon of Ozark; nine grandchildren, Jennifer, Jill, Joy, Samantha, Kristal, Bo, Jacob, Joel, and Jordan; twenty-four great-grandchildren, Riley, Hayden, Ian, Jackson, Kyndall, Mason, Weston, Colton, Forrister, Shilah, Brolin, Lizzie, Anna, Abigail, Isaac, Silas, Jesse, Katelynn, Annsley, Ruth, Jude, Cadence, Preslee, and Burke; one great-great grandson, Brooks; nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
Estelle was preceded in death by her husband Alvin; her parents; and twelve siblings.
