Roy Allen Curbow, age 84, passed away on November 19, 2025. Roy was born on November 2, 1941, and was a 1959 graduate of Nixa High School.
Roy loved to farm and spent many years as a dairy farmer alongside his loving wife and son. He taught them the value of doing things the right way, often saying, “Do it right or don’t do it at all.” Roy was also known for his strong opinions and his favorite sayings: "Look, see, and pay attention,” and “Don’t put off until tomorrow what you can do today.”
Roy married the love of his life, Shirley, on June 18, 1960. On June 13, 1961, their son Alex was born, and they brought him home on their first anniversary, June 18, 1961. Roy was a member of Friend Masonic Lodge #352 in Ozark, Missouri, a Shriner, and a member of the Scottish Rite, where he earned his 32nd Degree.
Roy will be greatly missed by neighbors, friends, and family, especially those who knew him through Nixa Hardware. Roy worked at Nixa Hardware for over 30 years until his passing. Everyone enjoyed visiting with him and talking about all kinds of things, whether they stopped in to make a purchase or simply to visit. He will be deeply missed by all.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Roy (Peggy) and Juanita Curbow; his great-aunt and great-uncle, Maude and Lindsey Bolin, who raised him; three half-brothers, Gary White, Eddie White, and Ted White; and his daughter-in-law, Lisa Curbow.
Roy is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Shirley Ann Curbow; one son, Alex (Rena) Curbow; two grandsons, Brandon (Stephanie) Curbow and Travis (Aubrey) Curbow; one half-sister, Judy Brocaw; and three wonderful great-grandchildren, Everly, Gentry, and Colbie, whom Roy considered the greatest blessings on earth. He is also survived by Shirley’s large and loving family of eight brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law, three half-brothers/sisters in law, both living and deceased.
A Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 24, 2025, at Adams Funeral Home, Nixa with Pastor Jamie Bilyeu officiating with burial to follow at McConnell Bledsoe Cemetery, Nixa, Missouri. A Visitation will be 4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m., Sunday, November 23, 2025, at the funeral home.
