Ester G. Mendietta, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, peacefully entered eternal rest at home surrounded by her family on February 24, 2026, at the age of 91. Born on November 29, 1934, in Kingsville, Texas, Ester carried with her a spirit of kindness and compassion that touched all who knew her.
Ester dedicated an impressive 25 years of her life to Allens Grocery & Fountain, where her warm smile and nurturing nature made her a beloved figure in the community. Following her time there, she devoted the next 10 years to Kingsville ISD as a child caregiver, shaping young minds with her gentle heart and unwavering dedication. Her personality shone brightly, characterized by a gentleness and care that drew people to her, leaving an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to cross her path. In her spare time, she found immense joy in cooking, sewing, and baking, often creating beautiful wedding cakes for members of her community, each baked with her signature passion and attention to detail.
Her pride and joy resided in her family, especially her only grandson, Jason Villarreal, whom she cherished immensely. As a grandmother and later as a great-grandmother, Ester's boundless love enveloped her great-grandchildren: Lorenzo, Zowe, Jacelyn, Mekayla, Jordan, and Rowan Villarreal. Each child felt her love and warmth, as she embraced them with tenderness, creating memories they will carry forever. Ester also graced the role of great-great-grandmother to Lailani Davis, adding another bright light to her family lineage.
Ester's devotion to her family extended to her daughters, Esther Villarreal and Noelia Mendietta, as well as her siblings, Englantina Martinez, Guadalupe Garcia Jr., and Jose Rene Garcia. The bonds of family were sacred to her, and she nurtured those connections with care and affection.
In her spare time, Ester engulfed herself in hobbies that reflected her love for nurturing—cooking, sewing, and baking brought her joy. She had a particular talent for crafting wedding cakes, which she lovingly prepared for members of her community, solidifying her status as a nurturing presence in the lives of others.
Ester's legacy of love, kindness, and devotion to family will continue to live on in the hearts of her loved ones for generations to come. Though she is preceded in death by her parents, Guadalupe and Josefa Garcia, her husband Lorenzo “Lencho” Mendietta, her sisters Esparaza Rodriguez and Estella Flores, her son-in-law Arnold Villarreal, and her great-grandsons, Justin Reed Villarreal and Ethan Hayes Villarreal, her memory remains a guiding light to those left behind.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Esther Villarreal and Noelia (Rey Solis) Mendietta; grandson, Jason (Vanessa) Villarreal; great-grandchildren, Lorenzo Villarreal, Zowe Villarreal, Jacelyn Villarreal, Mekayla Villarreal, Jordan Villarreal, and Rowan Villarreal; (Great Great Grandchild) Lailani Davis and her siblings, Englantina Martinez, Guadalupe Garcia Jr., Jose Rene Garcia
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Ester's life at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church on March 5, 2026. The visitation will take place from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, followed by a Rosary at 10:00 AM and a Mass at 10:30 AM.
