Estherphine Carwile Ashley, 91, of Abbeville, wife of the late Lawrence Otto ‘L.O.’ Ashley, died Saturday, December 20, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Abbeville to the late James Mahlon Carwile and Allie Mae Burton Carwile.
Estherphine will be remembered for her remarkable contributions as a beautician, dedicating over 50 years to bringing joy and fostering lasting friendships to her clients. She was a woman who cherished the simple joys of life, She enjoyed the great outdoors and cherished time spent reading and cooking. Her greatest joy was found in her family, particularly in her role as ‘Nanny’ to her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Estherphine was a member of Keowee Baptist Church and the Eunice Ricketts Sunday School class. She was also involved in the Eastern Star, an organization that reflects her dedication to friendship and charity.
Estherphine is survived by her two sons, Larry Ashley and Keith Ashley (Deborah), all of Abbeville; three grandchildren, Andrea Bowers (Christopher), Josh Hall (Rebecca) and Tabatha Charping (Chase); and six great-grandchildren, Cash, Rucker, Timothy, Araya, Jacob and Jase.
The family will receive friends 10:00AM – 11:00AM, Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at Keowee Baptist Church, 4704 Keowee Road, Honea Path, SC 29654. Funeral services will begin at 11:00AM in the church sanctuary with Rev. Joey Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family expresses their sincere gratitude to the sitters, doctors and nurses of Hospice and Palliative Care of the Piedmont for their love and care.
