Esther C. Mitchell, 63, of East Stroudsburg passed away Friday, April 30, 2021. Born in Jamaica, she was the daughter of the late Cleveland Mckenzie and Gladys Johnson.
Esther was of the Christian faith, and a member of Faith International Church. She attended nursing school and graduated, later working in North Jersey Developmental Center for 21 years. Esther had resided in East Stroudsburg for the past 14 years, and prior in Paterson, NJ. She enjoyed cooking, scrapbooking, and bowling. Esther also knew how to throw a good family party.
Esther is survived by her children; Christine Matthews of Tamiment, Jason Mitchell of Pompton Lakes, NJ, and Brieana Ofosu and husband Koranteng of Stroudsburg, as well as grandchildren; Bryce Eckford, Nia Eckford, and Tavia Ofosu, siblings; Ena Burcher, Bevin Mckenzie, and David Martin, nephews; Jamaal Burcher, and Kevin Mckenzie, and nieces; Debbie Martin and Gellisa Martin, great aunt; Bertha Taylor, and great newphew Jordan Burcher. In addition to her parents, Esther is preceded in death by siblings; Maureen Johnson, Vincent Martin, and Lennox Martin.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 7, 2021 from 10-11AM, with services at 11AM, at the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home, Inc. 23 N 9th Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360. Cremation will be private and cremated remains will be buried at a later date in Jamaica.
