Ms. Esther O. Monroe

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, friend, and

servant of the Lord, Esther Monroe lived a life of excellence, touching the hearts

of all who knew her.

Esther was born on April 30, 1935 in Morrilton, Arkansas to the Union of Elahuh

and Ida Henson; and was one of nine children born to their Union. She passed

peacefully in her sleep, at age 90, surrounded by the love of her family in Kansas

City, Missouri. We find comfort in knowing that she is now resting with the Lord,

her Savior, Jesus Christ.

Esther gave her life to Christ at an early age, was baptized, and remained

devoted to her faith throughout her journey.

Esther later married Thurston Monroe, who bravely served as an active member

in the United States Army. As they traveled the world together, five children

were born to their Union.

After the passing of her husband, Esther and her children moved to Kansas City,

Missouri. She soon joined Swope Parkway Church of Christ, where she greatly

respected the Leadership, formed warm friendships through ministry, and was a

faithful and active member until her health declined.

A creative entrepreneur, Esther wore many hats - a skilled seamstress, a

talented cake baker, and a beautician in her own salon. A loving caregiver to her

children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, Esther provided a true home...

a place of safety, consistency, and love. Her successful endeavors, and her

passion for serving her family, friends, and others, inspired countless lives; and

her legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.

Esther is proceeded in death by her husband; seven siblings; three of her

children: Vanessa Renee, Thurston Keith, and Steven Andrew; and also a

treasured grandson, Quintrell, Sr.

She leaves to cherish her memories, esteemed sister, Ivo Foster; beloved sons:

Ronald Wayne and Jeffrey Lynn; faithful daughter-in-law, Lisa Ann; devoted

daughter-in-law, Carlet; cherished grandsons, Edo, Miguel, Terald, and Delantré;

adored granddaughters, Toneshia, Veronica, and Chosen Promise; darling

great-great grandchildren, Taylor, Quintrell, Jr., Dionne, Niriah, Nevaeh and

Derrick and a host of dear relatives and friends.

Funeral services will Saturday, March 14, at 12:30pm at Swope Parkway Church of Christ. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation 11:00am-12:30pm at the church. Arrangements entrusted to Lawrence A. Jones & Sons. Condolences may be shared on our website.
