Michael A. "Trey" Monroe III

Michael "Trey" Anthony Monroe, 20, of Wheeling, WV tragically lost his life on Monday, February 23, 2026. Trey's bright blue eyes and contagious smile drew people to him, especially children. Even when young, Trey was often found entertaining younger kids even if they were complete strangers. Trey loved basketball and could recite stats of players way before his time like he was reading them out of a book. He had a way about him that brought out the kid in everyone. While Trey's time with us was far too short, the love he so generously gave will forever live on in the hearts of everyone for the rest of our lives.

Trey is preceded in death by his great-grandmother, Gracie Wise.

Those left to cherish his memory are: his father, Michael Monroe II and step-mother, Jasmine Monroe of Wheeling, WV; daughters, Ja'Nae Norelle Rose Proctor and Rai'Onna Amara Reign Milbert-Monroe, due in April, both of Wheeling; siblings, McKaila Monroe of Somerset, KY, Maliyah, Micah, and Melody Monroe of Wheeling; paternal grandparents, Michael Monroe I and Lula Monroe of Mullens, WV; uncles Alvis and Keith Minor of Pineville, WV; aunts, Amber Monroe and Tonya Elliott of Bluefield, WV, and Aja Monroe of Mullens, WV; cousin Kaila Washington and fiancé, Matt McAllister of Mullens, WV; biological mother, Candice Cline; and a host of extended family and friends.

In keeping with the family's wishes, a small, private service will be held for immediate family.
