Esther Ward

Waverly Our beautiful Mom, Esther Romaine Bauer Ward passed away from this life on March 15, 2026 at her home. Mom was born in Omega, Ohio on March 20, 1932 to the late Hobart and Gertrude Bauer. On March 29, 1953 she married our Dad, John J. Ward who preceded her in passing.

Mom is survived by her daughters, Jan (Peter) Elliott, Joan Uhrig, Jamie Peters, Julie (Dean) Ward and Jenny Silcott; grandchildren, Shane Peters, Stacie (Shawn) Porter, Steffie (Joel) Eversole, Dan (Sasha) Hocter, John (Andrea) Hocter, Alex Elliott, Jessie (Wyatt) Silcott, Hailie and Annie Silcott; twelve great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mom was preceded in death by sisters and brothers-in-law, Katherine Bauer, Ethel (Selby) Noel, Jean (August) Oyer; sister-in-law, Judy Ward; and sons-in-law, Steven Peters and Randy Silcott.

Mom graduated from Waverly High School in 1950. She was a stay at home Mom raising five girls. She later became a successful antique dealer having her own shop and setting up at flea markets for forty plus years.

Our Mom had several care givers we would like to thank. They loved Mom like their own and took awesome care of her; Diane Wolfe, Tammy Montgomery, Brandy Peters, Norma Manley, Pat Monroe, Kathy Noel, Susan Shoemaker, and granddaughters, Annie, Jessie and Hailie Silcott. Thanks to Adena Hospice who also cared for Mom.

We will honor Mom with viewing on March 22, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Waverly. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 23, 2026 at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home with Dale Reed officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Union Cemetery on Bridge Street in Waverly, Ohio.
