Ethel Bechthold, 90, of Belgrade, died Sunday, March 2 at Transitions LifeCare in Raleigh, North Carolina. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am, Thursday, March 20 at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in Spicer. Visitation will be one hour prior to her service at the church. The rosary in her honor was said at Mother Teresa Catholic Church, Cary, NC on March 9. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson & Johnson Funeral Home in New London. www.hafh.org
Ethel was born on May 29, 1934, in Stewart, Minnesota to Fred and Louise (Martin) Williamette. Ethel was united in marriage to James Bechthold on June 8, 1963, at Holy Name Catholic Church in Minneapolis. To this union they were blessed with two daughters and one son. The family made their home in rural Belgrade on a dairy farm. Ethel was a wonderful cook making meals for her family and people who helped on the farm. She also enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening. Ethel and Jim enjoyed old time dancing and an occasional trip to a casino. Ethel was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church.
She is survived by her children, Therese (Ken) Graner of Lanesboro, Judy (Tony) Adkins of Cary, NC, and Doug Bechthold of Belgrade; grandchildren, Lynn and Michael Graner, Justin Mueller, Brendan and Colin Adkins; and great-grandchild, Axel Graner. Ethel is also survived by her sister, Hazel Enzenroth, and brothers, Leonard Williamette, and Fred Williamette; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her sister, Marie, and her brothers, Francis, Vincent, and Bernard.
