Ethel H. Frank, age 96, of Menomonie, WI, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 6 at Our House Memory Care of Menomonie.
Ethel was born on September 15, 1928 to August and Clara (Berg) Holzhueter. She grew up on the home farm and attended Blodgett Grade School. She then went on to graduate from the Dunn County School of Agriculture and earned a diploma from Dunn County Normal School.
She taught in numerous one room rural schools until she then earned a bachelor's degree and continued teaching in various positions within the Menomonie School District where her heart was meant to be: in the classroom of students.
Ethel married Gerald Frank on June 14, 1951. They farmed on the home farm until 1956 when they built a home in the City of Menomonie where they raised their three children (Marilyn, Gary & LeAnn). She retired in June of 1992 after 40 years of teaching. She still kept in touch with many of her students as she could.
Ethel and Gerald enjoyed traveling and took many bus trips together while meeting many new friends. After retirement, Ethel enjoyed caring for two of her grandsons for several years. She also loved working in her garden and flower beds. She was very active as a member of St. Paul's Church which kept her very busy.
She will be sadly missed by her children, Marilyn (Mark) Smith of Tomahawk, WI, Gary (Jane) Frank of Cleveland, MN and LeAnn (Kelly) Kadinger of Menomonie; along with her grandchildren, Liz (Brady) Thomas, Ellen (Toby) Harris, Keith and Kyle (Allie) Kadinger; also, her great-grandchildren, Oak and Hudson Thomas, Rhys and Milo Harris, Haven and Brooks Kadinger. She is also survived by a brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Richard and Nancy Frank, along with many nieces and nephews and many dear friends and students.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Frank; her parents; her sister, Clarice Klatt; along with other sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
The family would like to sincerely thank the Special Caregivers at Autumn Village, Our House of Menomonie and St. Croix Hospice for their tender loving care she received from them and greatly appreciated it.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 12 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Menomonie with Pastor Geoffrey Kieta officiating. There will be a visitation from 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday, December 11 at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie and also one hour prior to the service at the church.
