Ethel Sarokon Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Carson/Boyer Funeral Home Inc on Mar. 26, 2026.
Ethel Reda Fedock-Sarokon, 98, of Lithia, FL (formerly of Cocoa Beach, FL and Sagamore, PA) passed away on March 19, 2026.

I came into this world during a blizzard in Central City, PA on January 29, 1928. The first of three daughters born to proud Slovaks, John Fedock and Anna Kovalchick.

I had a happy childhood growing up in the coal mining town of Sagamore with my sisters, Baba, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

After graduating in 1945, I clerked in the Sagamore Company Store and post office until I married Dan Sarokon, a Bell Aircraft propulsion engineer. He had an assignment to Holloman AFB, NM, so off we went to our new life out West! Dan changed companies and went further west to Edwards AFB, CA. He was then transferred to Cape Canveral, FL. We were happy to be back East near our family in PA.

At the Cape, I worked for NASA. I met the Mercury astronauts, President Kennedy, Vice President Johnson, and saw President Carter and other dignitaries.

In 1964 our daughter Heather was born, and I became a stay-at-home mom. After she became self-sufficient, I went back to work at Patrick AFB. In 1990 I retired with 35 years of federal service.

Dan and I spent happy summer and fall seasons in Sagamore, the place we always called home. After he died in 2006, I continued to return until my health failed.

Left to enjoy life are my daughter, Heather Filkins and son-in-law, Rick who took good care of me, intelligent and handsome grandsons, Dayne Wade and his wife, Ceara and Christopher Wade, beautiful and talented granddaughter, Emily Boughton and her husband, Jorge; great-granddaughter, Amelia; amazing sister, JoAnn Tyrrell, our family memory maker who kept me in books, along with her loyal companion, Dan Lorigan; nephews, Kyle Trimboli and his wife, Sylvia and Jon Trimboli; nieces, Lindsey Vandling and her husband, James, Joyce Sarokon who sent me beautiful cards like her mother, Jean; sister-in-law, Joan Flickenger Sarokon; and many dear friends.

Gone before me are my parents; husband; infant grandson, Nicholas Wade; dear sister, Eileen Trimboli; brother-in-law, Albert Trimboli; nephew, Todd Tyrrell; sister-in-law, Jean Peterman Sarokon; and Hoover "Michael" Renosky, my first boyfriend, we spent time together in our old age.

Dan and I will make our last trip to Sagamore when we will be buried near my parents in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.

My wonderful life ended on March 19 at 6p.m.
