Irene J. Sarokon

1924 - 2022

Irene J. Sarokon, 97, of DuBois, died early Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2022 at her home following a decline in her health.

Born August 15, 1924, in Indiana, PA., she was the daughter of the late Luther and Mabel Bailey Peterman.

She was married to Al Sarokon, who preceded her in death in 1971.

Prior to her retirement in 2002, she had worked for the Courier Express, Gray Printing and the City of DuBois.

She was a member of DuBois American Legion and Christ Lutheran Church in DuBois.

Her pastimes included gardening.

Her survivors include her daughters, Ann (Charles) Sarokon Williams, of Rockton; and Joyce Sarokon, of Roulette, Tx; and her grandsons, Charles Alexander Williams, of Dubois and Clinten John Williams, of Reynoldsville.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Alex Peterman. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Furlong Funeral Home, 50 Broad St., Summerville, PA has been entrusted with the final arrangements for Mrs. Sarokon.

A graveside service will be held at Oakland Cemetery, Indiana, PA., with Pastor Amy Godshall-Miller, Christ Lutheran Church of DuBois, officiating.
