Ethelyn Marie Popp

Ethelyn Marie Popp of Nada died March 21, 2024 at the age of 92. She was born October 5, 1931 in Nada to Leo E. and Frances Mendel Popp. She was a life-long member of St. Mary Catholic Church and a long-time member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She retired from I. C. Manufacturing after 25 years. She became a caregiver for the elderly in Garwood-Nada community, and was recognized in 2009 by the AgriLife Extension with 'The Outstanding Older Texan Award' for her many years of care. She loved playing bingo and dominoes, and quilting. Her beautiful quilts were part of the Nada Picnic Auction for many years.
She is survived by her brother Johnnie Popp and wife Patricia and sister-in-law Bernice Popp, all of El Campo; and numerous nieces and nephews and two great nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Wilfred, Leo G. Popp, Ed Lee and sister Ann Cada and her husband Alvin.
Visitation will be 9 am Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Nada with a Rosary being recited at 9:30 am. The Funeral Mass will follow at 10 am with Rev. Peter Yeboah-Amanfo officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church or to donor's choice.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Popp, Dillon Berglund, Reid Berglund, Jerrid Berglund, Brian Kirk, Logan Kirk and Zach Popp. Honorary pallbearers will be Kim Popp, Shelley Popp and David Popp.
