Etta Mae Slabach, age 87, of Dalton, died Sunday, December 22, 2024, at Shady Lawn Health Care Community in Dalton, following a period of declining health.
Etta was born on April 19, 1937, in Altoona, Pennsylvania, to the late Thomas and Iva (Hostetler) Keagy and graduated from Massillon High School. She married Allen W. Slabach on June 16, 1956, at the Canton Baptist Temple. Allen survives.
Etta was a member of Dalton Baptist Church. She enjoyed crafts, sewing, baking, crocheting, and spending time with her kids and grandchildren.
Surviving are three sons, Chris (Linda) Slabach of Massillon, Kevin (Diane) Slabach of Orrville, and Neil (Tara) Slabach of Canal Fulton; two daughters, April (Ed) Snider of Navarre, and Lisa Hendrix of Orrville; many grandkids and great grandkids; sisters-in-law, Elsie Klingler, Ruthie Kamph, Silvia Drushell, and Bonnie Lowe.
In addition to her parents, Etta was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Keagy, Jr.; grandson, Roman T. Slabach; brothers-in-law, Dale Klingler, Richard Kamph, Dave Drushell, and Norman Lowe.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 am on January 8, 2025, at Dalton Baptist Church, 400 Lincoln View Drive, Dalton, with Pastor Dan Gregory officiating. Etta will have a plot at the Dalton Cemetery.
