Etta Joy Young

HEYBURN – Etta Joy Jones Young, 86, of Heyburn, passed away Thursday, January 19, 2023, at Highland Estates Assisted Living, in Burley.
Joy was born to Leroy and Etta Jones on June 29, 1936, in Elba, Idaho. She was the youngest of nine children. Her family moved to Burley when she was 11 years old, and she attended schools there. Joy met Alva Dean Young in Burley, and they married on June 19, 1951. Joy was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved serving in the Primary and playing volleyball. In 1953, Dean and Joy were sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple. Joy enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, and gardening. She loved to play games with her family and friends. Joy worked at several jobs throughout her life and enjoyed working with the many new friends she met through her employment.
Joy is survived by her children, Michael B. (LaNetta) Young of Syracuse, Utah, Allen (Nancy) Young of Mckinnon, Wyoming, and Pamela Joy VanEvery of Heyburn, Idaho; 19 Grandchildren; 51 Great-Grandchildren; one sister, Clara Wickel of Paul, Idaho; one brother, Marvin Jones of Richfield, Idaho; and many nieces and nephews.
Joy was preceded in death by her eternal companion, Dean, her parents; one son and his wife, Larry Dean and Mary Alice Brown Young; two sisters, Edith Jones and Sarah Jones Savage; and four brothers, Junior Jones, Floyd Jones, Henry Jones, and Ivan Jones.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 26, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - Heyburn Ward, located at 300 S. 500 W., of Heyburn. Burial will be in the Sunny Cedar Rest Cemetery in Almo.
Family and friends will be received from 5 until 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Thursday, prior to the funeral, at the church.
