Matilda Young Obituary
She was preceded in death by Billy Ray Young, her husband of 59 years, son Billy Ray "Corky" Young Jr., grandson John Moore, brothers- John Abshire, William Ireland Abshire, Jack Abshire and
Walter Abshire. Sisters- Edna Estepp, Revia Stewart and Linda Shannon.
She is survived by a son, James "Bo" (Lenora)Young. Daughters-Kathryn Compton,Cynthia (Dan)
Wade,Deborah (Charles) Coldiron and Barbara Gray. Sisters-in-law- Laura Abshire, Sue Lyons and
Linda Castle. She is also survived by many grandchildren, two that she helped raise-Eddie Young and
April Ray. She is also survived by several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, and a brother-in-law, Willis Newsome.
Tillie loved the Lord and was a dedicated member of Charley Freewill Baptist Church.
She had many jobs over the years. The one she was most proud of was her twenty years as a corrections officer at Big Sandy Regional Detention Center, where she retired at the age of 74.
She enjoyed quilting, puzzles, reading and working with her flowers. She had a wonderful sense of
humor and was always the first to laugh at herself and taught her children to laugh.
She taught her family, by example, to be unselfish and devoted to each other. She loved her children
and grandchildren with her whole heart. In her last years, nothing brought her more joy than her dog,
Bella and a visit and hugs from her grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 11am at Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Willie Gene Hayes and Rev. Joseph Castle officiating. Burial will follow in the Young Cemetery. Friends may visit the family on Friday, February 6, 2026 from 6-9pm at Wilson Funeral Home. All care has been entrusted to Wilson Funeral Home.

I loved my Aunt Tillie. She was a beautiful person.She will be missed by all her knew her. Her children's lives will never be the same. But think of the reunion in Heaven with her parents and all her brothers and sisters. Praying for the comfort and peace of the Lord for you all.
