Eugene Ralph "Gene" Baxton

Eugene Ralph Baxton, age 88, of Clayton passed away on July 8, 2024 at his home. He was born March 21, 1936 in New Auburn, to Glen and Minnie "Evelyn" (Richards) Baxton.
Gene enlisted in the United States Marines in 1953 and served in Korea near the end of the war. After his time in the service, he was married in Moon Lake Church on May 18, 1957 to Shirley Willers.
Gene worked at various local businesses before retiring from Turtle Lake AMPI after 28 years. Hobbies of Gene's included fishing year-round, reading comics in the newspaper, and tending to his yard. He was also an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Turtle Lake, and a loving husband to Shirley.
He is survived by wife, of 67 years, Shirley; sister Joyce Baxton-Krostag; brother, Glen Baxton; half-sister, Susan and half-brother, Walter "Wally"; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Gene was preceded in death by parents, Glen and Minnie "Evelyn" Baxton; brothers, Fred, Jim, Billy Baxton.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Monday July 15, 2024 at Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Steve Miller officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
