Obituary
ATKINSON, NEW HAMPSHIRE – Mr. Eugene T. Bertocchi, 82 of Atkinson, New Hampshire, formerly of Everett, loving husband of Irene C. (Sullivan) Bertocchi, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 12th, 2023 at Brightview in Danvers with his devoted family by his side.
Born in Everett, Eugene lovingly known as "Butch" and "Jock", was the son of the late Gene and Virginia Bertocchi. He was raised and educated in Everett, graduating from Everett High School in 1959. It was the early years of high school when Butch met Irene Sullivan, truly love at first sight. Their devotion to each other would span decades, creating a beautiful life and a loving family. Quoted from their class year book, "To Butch she'll make a charming wife, each and every day of her life" (1959). Together they celebrated 61 years of marriage.
An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country as a member of the United States Army.
Butch dedicated his professional career to the mechanic industry where he worked alongside his brother David for over 30 years at their Dilboy Sunoco gas station in Somerville. Butch was a talented mechanic and was highly requested by others. He worked hard, devoting many hours to his career to support his family.
It was in retirement that Butch got to relish in the life he built. From cruising and traveling to many places with his wife to summering in their home in Atkinson, New Hampshire, Butch enjoyed the adventure of life and being the best husband, father and papa to his family. He knew how to tell a great story and his incredible quick wit and humor was unmatched. In New Hampshire, he enjoyed boating in the summer and snowmobiling and skiing in the winter. Always staying busy, Butch loved to help improve the homes of his family, from building decks to renovating rooms; his craftmanship will be forever cherished by his family. Butch will be remembered as a true family man and loyal friend with a gentle and easy-going nature that endeared him to many. He will be deeply missed.
