Eugene Boyer Obituary

Published by Legacy on Dec. 24, 2025.
Eugene "Gene" Boyer, 85, of Savannah, Missouri, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family, on Monday, December 22, 2025.

Gene was born on June 9, 1940, to William and Edna (Klute) Boyer. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1958 to 1962. On August 1, 1964, he married the love of his life, Glenna "Kay" Pettry, in Savannah. They shared more than 60 years together, and she survives him at their home.

Gene was a hard worker who did whatever was needed to provide for his family. He spent many years driving a truck for Wyeth Hardware and overnight transportation. After retiring from trucking, he then worked at Orscheln's Farm & Home in Savannah, a job he truly enjoyed.

Above all else, Gene loved his family. He treasured time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed tending to his flowers, being at home, golfing, and working on Ford tractors.

Gene is survived by his wife, Kay; his children, Stacy (Wayne) Gillenwater of Fillmore, Missouri, Steven Boyer of Savannah, and Billy (Sharla) Boyer of Savannah; his grandchildren, Courtney (Anthony) Gabriel, Kiefer Gillenwater, and Hannah Boyer; his great-grandchildren, Brantley, Piper, and Parker; and his siblings, Larry (Tess) Boyer of Minnesota, Richard (Joyce) Boyer of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and James Boyer of Nevada.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Mary Aguilar.

Visitation and a family receiving hour will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 29, 2025, at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home in Savannah, Missouri. Funeral services will follow at 10:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Savannah Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to North Andrew FFA at 9120 MO-48, Rosendale, MO 64483
