Eugene Carr Obituary
He was born on May 28, 1932, in Staten Island, NY, the son of the late Elroy "Roy" Carr and Anne (Murray) Carr. As a night student at Pace College in NYC, he met his wife, Helgi (Allik) Carr, whom he married on April 15, 1961.
Gene was a banker and a U.S. Navy veteran during the Korean War. He was a member of the Hibernians, Division 4 and the American Legion in Staten Island, NY. Gene was very active in the Staten Island Softball league and the Granite Athletic Club in Staten Island. He loved bowling, dancing, swimming, and gardening.
Gene enjoyed their dogs and cats through the years. He took great pride in attending his grandchildren's activities and watching them grow up.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Helgi, of 64 years, of Delray, WV, are one daughter, Erika Carr-McCarty and husband Gerard of Delray, WV; two grandchildren, Sean Ruane and Reillyanne Ruane.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Delray Christian Church with Minister Dave Atzenweiler officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mama's-Gona Reserve and Farm Sanctuary, 250 S. Bremen Ave, Egg Harbor City, NJ 08215
