Mr. Eugene A. Cenedella, 93, of Milford MA died Sunday evening (November 9, 2025) at the UMASS-Memorial Medical Center in Worcester MA after an illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Barbara E. (Peterson) Cenedella who died in 2014.
Gene was born in Milford MA, the son of the late Fred Cenedella and the late Anna (Borghi) Cenedella. He attended the former St. Mary's parochial schools and was a graduate of the former St. Mary's High School, Class of 1950.
Gene was a proud US Army veteran having served during the Korean Conflict from 1953 to 1955. He was a lifelong resident of Milford MA and a longtime communicant of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Milford MA.
Gene had been employed in the construction industry for all of his life. He had owned & operated his own masonry business, Cenedella Masonry for over 40 years.
Gene was a longtime member of the Italian-American Veterans Post #40 of Milford MA and a longtime member of the Milford Plains Association. He also loved working in his vegetable garden & observing the local bird population. Gene loved to create things from materials he already had around the house. The ultimate re-purposer before it became fashionable. His most unique item is a ferris wheel bird feeder.
Gene & his late wife were members of the "Bowling Group", which consisted of a group of life long friends who used to bowl in their younger days. Later on, this group of dear friends traveled both abroad and in the United States for decades together.
Nothing gave Gene more pleasure than spending time with his family. His grandchildren were the light of his life and he had a unique and special relationship with each of them.
Gene is survived by his 5 children: Cindy Mina, wife of Peter Mina of Shrewsbury MA, Richard Cenedella and his wife Faith of Milford MA, Timothy Cenedella and his wife Ellen of Milford MA, Jo-Ann O'Brien, wife of David O'Brien Jr. of Upton MA and Robert Cenedella and his wife Bobbi of Milford MA; his 9 grandchildren: Rachel Mina, Matt Mina, Alex Cenedella, Cassidy Cenedella, Brooke Cenedella, David O'Brien, Shannon O'Brien-Nguyen and her husband Andy Nguyen, Daria Cenedella & Lucia Cenedella; also several nieces & nephews.
Gene was the Father of the late Michael Cenedella, who died in 1971.
His funeral will be held Friday (November 14th) at 9am from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress Street, Milford MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 7 East Main Street, Milford MA. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Milford MA. Visiting hours will be held Thursday evening (November 13th) from 5pm to 7pm at the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home.
