Eugene James Cornelius, of Pelican Lake, died on August 2, 2025 at Rosalia Gardens in Antigo. He was 90 years old. He was born on August 8, 1934 in Antigo, a son of Anton and Marcella (Iris) Cornelius. He married Carol Harm on September 24, 1955 in Antigo. She preceded him in death on December 4, 2014.

Eugene was a graduate of the Antigo High School Class of 1952. He spent 40 years as a switchman working for Langlade Telephone, General Telephone, and GTE.

Eugene enjoyed golfing, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved long trips on his motorcycle and camping at Lake Metonga. Eugene coached football for St. John Catholic School and was a baseball umpire for little league and senior league. He was proud of the volunteer work he did with the Special Olympics.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary "Robin" (John) Jensen of Pelican Lake; two sons, Greg Cornelius of Merrill and Dale (Michael) Cornelius of Las Vegas, NV; three grandchildren, Nia (Jason) Ebert of Bowler, Alex (Melissa) Jensen of Crandon, and John (Elexis) Jensen, Jr. of Iron River; eight great-grandchildren, Abigail and Madison Klemann, Bradley, Levi, Rory, Brantley, Colt and Rip Jensen; Eugene is also survived by many nieces, nephews, 3 sisters-in-law, and a brother-in-law.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Raymond Cornelius and Harold Cornelius; and sister, Norma Peterlick.

According to Eugene's wishes, no services will be held.
