Eugene E. Dickerson

Eugene Elliott Dickerson, 69, of Staunton, died on Friday, February 12, 2010, at Augusta Health in Fishersville.

He was born on July 16, 1940, in Albemarle County, a son of Ruby Dooms Dickerson Carroll and the late Elmer Graves Dickerson.

He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served in Vietnam.

He was preceded in death by his son, Eugene Elliott Dickerson II.

Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Ruby D. and Charles Carroll of Charlottesville; his wife, Shelby H. Dickerson of Staunton; his daughter, Beverly Dickerson of Staunton; his sister and her husband, Martha and Randy Barker of Waynesboro; his brother, Charles Dickerson of Charlottesville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A service will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, February 19, 2010, at McDow Funeral Home by Dr. Jon Lovelady. Interment will follow at Augusta Memorial Park with honors conducted by the Stuarts Draft VFW Post #9339.

Active pallbearers will be his nephews.

The family will receive friends from at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1920-H Medical Ave., Harrisonburg, VA 22801.
