Eugene "Gene" Dixon

Mr. Eugene "Gene" Dixon, age 89, of Crandall, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 31st.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Margaret Dixon; his birth parents, Willie and Effie Dixon and Onnie and Chassie Deal, who raised him from age 12; and his sister, Carolyn Baynes.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Regina and John Glass of Crandall; his cherished grandchildren, Megan Glass and Cameron Glass; his sister, Faye Swilling; and extended family members.

Gene proudly served in the Army where he was stationed in Alaska. He spent many years working as a truck driver and was recognized for achieving over one million accident-free miles. He enjoyed boat rides, attending car shows, working on the farm, and spending time with friends, but most of all, he loved helping others. He lived every day according to Mark 12:31 - "Love your neighbor as yourself." His kindness and giving spirit were extended to family, friends, and strangers alike. His greatest joy in life, though, was loving his family, and being "Pop" to his two grandchildren, who were truly the light of his world.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Orchard Ridge Memory Care for their compassionate care, kindness, and love shown to Gene.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm. Following the visitation, private interment will be held at Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery.
