Eugene “Gene” Douglas Gaddy
Eugene “Gene” Douglas Gaddy, born December 20, 1933, in Norwood, Stanley County, NC went on to his eternal home on August 29, 2025, at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, NC. He was a long-time resident of Harrisburg, NC.
Gene, as he was affectionately known, was a loving and resilient man with an unwavering faith in God. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him.
Gene is survived by his wife of 67 years, Helen, his son Steve, daughter-in-law Tonya and his beloved grandson, Eric.
After his graduation from Central High School, he served our nation in the military branch of the Army. Afterwards, he embarked on a career in banking. He retired after 30 years of employment with Bank of America, formerly North Carolina National Bank, or NCNB. He was a member of Roberta Methodist Church since 1989 and remained active in the church serving on mission trips to rebuild communities in the mountains of North Carolina as well as the church’s many successful hot dog sales.
Outside of his dedication to his wife, family and church, Gene had a tremendous passion for woodworking and gardening as well as history and genealogy. He was a man who believed in the rewards of working with your hands and doing a job correctly.
Visitation will be held from 10:30 am until 11:30 am at Hartsell Funeral Home, 12115 University City Blvd., Harrisburg NC 28075. His service will begin at 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Roberta Methodist Church, 3925 Cochran Road, Concord, NC 28027. A private graveside service for the family only, will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Mint Hill, NC.
Although Gene's physical presence may no longer grace our lives, his spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us. May his memory be a blessing, and may we carry forth his legacy of love and hard work in all that we do. As you continue to worship Jesus up there, dear Gene, your light will forever shine brightly in our hearts.
