Eugene G. (Gene) Hill, aged 86, of Eustis, Florida, passed away peacefully at his home filled with many of his family on Saturday, November 1, 2025. Born in Kinston, North Carolina, Gene transitioned to Central Florida in the 1970s, bringing with him a spirit of dedication and entrepreneurship. He was involved in the insurance industry for over 50 years. His entrepreneurial spirit was not limited to the field of insurance, however. He was responsible for the start-up of numerous companies ranging from real estate, automobile finance and recycled oil. He also owned multiple automobile dealerships and was involved in numerous other businesses in varying degrees. Gene was instrumental in the development and implementation of both self-funded and fully insured insurance programs throughout the Southeastern United States. He founded Executive Risk Consultants, Inc., Association Employers Insurance Company and Association Employers MGA in the mid-1980s. Those companies serviced the insurance programs of over 26 state associations and included workers compensation, property & casualty lines as well as employee benefit plans. Gene was also a correspondent of Lloyd’s of London for years and served on the Board of Directors of 22 different companies over the years. As a graduate of the Colorado State Police Academy and the Wyoming State Policy Academy he had a great respect for law enforcement and was proud to have served in the United States Air Force. Gene was deeply committed to his community, actively participating in various organizations that reflect his passion for service and connection. He proudly served as a member of the Rotary Club, the Jaycees and contributed to the Mount Dora Chamber of Commerce Board. His faith was an essential part of his life, and he was a valued member of LifePointe Church in Eustis for many years serving on almost every committee there including Chairman of Deacons. He was a member of First Baptist Church Mount Dora for the past several years. Gene is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Kay Hill; his daughters, Jodie (Kevin) McEwen of Altoona, FL, and Sherie (Scott) Dunlap of Leesburg, FL; his son, Chaske (Amber) Welch of Umatilla, FL; along with eight cherished grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A memorial service in honor of Gene will be held at First Baptist Church in Mount Dora on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 11:00 AM. The family will welcome friends at the Harden/Pauli Funeral Home in Eustis on Friday, November 14, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Orlando Health Foundation or the First Baptist Church of Mount Dora.
