Eugene R. Johnson

1936 - 2025

Eugene R. Johnson, affectionately known as "Big Gene," passed away on November 9, 2025, at the age of 88 in his beloved hometown of Savannah, Georgia. Born on December 24, 1936, Eugene was a pillar of his community and a beloved figure among family and friends.

Eugene dedicated his life to those he cherished, leaving behind a legacy that will be remembered fondly by many. He is survived by his three children: Eugene M. Johnson, who is married to Cynthia; Gary Johnson (Tammy); and his daughter Nicole Johnson. His spirit will continue to shine through his grandchildren: James, Travon, Trevon, Jishaun, and Eleme. Each of them carries a piece of his heart and memory forward.

Eugene was not just a father and grandfather but also a loving brother to Joyce Broomfield. He shared a deep bond with his sister and was cherished among a host of other relatives and friends. Eugene's warmth and kindness left an indelible mark on the lives he touched, and his absence will be profoundly felt.

Public visitation for Eugene R. Johnson will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Adams Funeral Services, 510 Stephenson Avenue, Savannah, GA, 31405. A Funeral Mass honoring his life will be celebrated on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Resurrection Of Our Lord Catholic Church, located at 112 Fell St, Savannah, GA, 31415. Burial: Catholic Cemetery.
