Eugene Edward Kastanek, known to all who loved him as Eugene, was a man whose life was beautifully woven with threads of compassion, reliability, humility, and thoughtfulness. Born on March 17, 1945, in Lincoln, Nebraska, Eugene's life was an inspiring journey that ended on August 28, 2025. He leaves behind a legacy that sparkles with the vibrancy of his spirit and the enduring love he had for his family.

Eugene was a steadfast pillar in his family and community. He was a dedicated Attorney-at-Law at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for 41 illustrious years, a testament to his relentless commitment and reliability. His professional life was marked by his humble approach, understanding the power of quiet leadership and hard work. His loving wife Jean, his sons Patrick and Kevin, his daughters-in-law Diana, Lori, and Nancy, and his brother Ken will forever carry the memory of his compassionate heart. His parents, Edward and Evelyn Kastanek, and his sister Eileen Kastanek, welcomed him with open arms as he joined them in eternal rest.

As the family man, Eugene was a beacon of unconditional love and support. His family was his pride and joy, the center around which his world revolved. He was their rock, their confidante, their guiding light, and their biggest cheerleader. They will remember him for his thoughtful gestures, his warm hugs, and the love that filled their home and hearts. Eleanor Roosevelt once said, "The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience." Eugene lived by these words, embracing every moment with grace, courage, and an undeniable zest for life.

Eugene's life was a testament to the depth of his character, the strength of his convictions, and the breadth of his love. His legacy will continue to inspire, his memory will continue to comfort, and his love will continue to heal.

We invite you to share your memories and photographs of Eugene at the memorial page. Your stories and pictures will serve as a celebration of his life, a testament to the love he shared, and a tribute to the remarkable man he was.
