Eugene C. Knapp

Eugene C. Knapp, 86, passed away March 13, 2026. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Artie-Jean Knapp; his children, Pam (David Husch) Knapp, Gene (Teresa Rezucha) Knapp; his grandchildren, Christopher (Piya) Engler, Tiffanni (Skylar Shrauger) Rezucha, Evan (Victoria) Engler, Elaina Engler, Caitlyn (Ryan Clairmont) Knapp and Courtney Knapp; nine great-grandchildren; brother Richard (Gloria) Knapp and a special niece and caregiver Sheila Cline. He was predeceased by his first wife Linda Zacharias and his beloved dogs Oliver, Ginger and Morgan. Gene was proud to have been in the first class at Acre Place School in Kirkwood. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was a life member and past Commander of the VFW post 478 and a member of American Legion Post 1194 in Hillcrest. Gene spent his entire working career in security, first at GAF, then at IBM, retiring after 15 years of service and then continued on part time with Broome County Security. Gene enjoyed NASCAR and playing horseshoes. Through the years, he he played guitar in numerous country bands locally. He was also a member of the BPOE #70 in Kirkwood.

A private entombment service will be held at Vestal Hills Memorial Park. Military honors will be conferred. The family requests those who wish to honor Gene do so by making a gift in his name to the BC Humane Society.
