Of Churchill, age 85, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at Shadyside Hospital, the same hospital where he was born. Beloved husband of 61 years of Mary K. LaFace. Loving father of Gregg LaFace, Karen LaFace, MD (Andrew Getzin, MD), Beth LaFace (Herv Galic), and the late Linda LaFace. Proud grandfather of his cherished grandchildren, Nicole LaFace, Zoe Getzin, Lucy Getzin, Quentin Getzin, and Isabella LaFace. Also survived by his former daughter-in-law Laura LaFace, numerous cousins, and his loving labradoodle, Pearl.
Gene was the only child of Nicholas and Genevieve (Kutkowski) LaFace. He graduated from Taylor Allderdice High School where he played football. He graduated from Duquesne University, where he met his future wife, Mary Kathleen Keenan. Gene was talented in sales and went into business. He was joined by Harry McGovern to form Laface & McGovern Associates, Inc. in 1976. They grew the company to over 50 employees and it continues to serve the region as manufacturers' agents for numerous lighting products. Gene loved to dance and he loved football.
