Eugene R. Larson Jr.

Ishpeming- Eugene R. Larson Jr., age 84, lifelong area resident, passed away on January 3, 2026 at UP Health System Marquette while in the loving care of his family and hospital staff.

Eugene was born in Ishpeming on September 10, 1941, son of the late Eugene Sr. and Selda (Ahtonen) Larson. He attended Ishpeming Public Schools, and was proud of completing his GED in his 40's to continue driving truck. He drove truck for many years for several area companies, most recently for Moyle Trucking. Eugene proudly served in the Army National Guard until his retirement after 20+ years of service.

Eugene loved spending time with his grandkids, going for rides on his side by side and his Harley. He enjoyed going to his daily coffee clutch at Sherries Restaurant, bowling in the Ishpeming Bowling League, playing in the Ishpeming Cribbage League, and going deer hunting every November.

Being around Eugene often meant you would share a good laugh. He was one of the hardest working, strongest, toughest loving Finnish men around. His love for his family will always be felt. He can now ride as fast as he wants on his Harley up in Heaven and no longer has to carry bail money "just in case." As he said many times over the last couple of weeks, "I'll see you next trip around."

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Patti Bess.

Following Eugene's wishes, cremation will take place with no public services. He will be interred with his wife Patti in the Ishpeming Cemetery.
