Eugene (Gene) Lieberman passed away on January 23, 2025 at the age of 90. He was the beloved husband of 66 years to his late wife Shirley and the loving father to his 2 children, his daughter Andrea and his late son Barry.
He was a lifelong photographer for over 79 years. He was a proud U.S. Army veteran and served as an Army Medic, stationed in Germany in the 1950s.
Gene worked in his family owned business called Klein and Goodman Inc., which was a camera store in Center City Philadelphia from the age of 14, well into his 50s, as an expert camera salesman. After that, he started a second career as a Police Photographer with the City of Philadelphia, which he really enjoyed talking about.
Gene loved to work with his hands and after retirement, he worked part-time at Walmart putting bicycles and grills together behind the scenes.
He and his wife Shirley had a beautiful marriage and did everything together. They especially enjoyed shopping together, vacationing and going on many Caribbean cruises. They loved socializing with their neighbors at the pool in the summer.
Gene not only enjoyed taking pictures but he went above and beyond; he would take photographs at events of people that attended and later, present them with a framed copy of the photo, capturing the joy of the moment!
He had a passion for military aircrafts and their history, and a love for model trains from the time he was a child. Gene was an animal lover and had several pets during his lifetime.
He was a generous and a kind man, loved by all. People say Gene was always where he was needed. Even at 90 years of age, he was full of energy and willing to give a hand to anyone in need and even delivered shopping flyers and newspapers around to the neighbors weekly. If someone was unable to get their mail, he would bring it to them.
Gene was quite a jokester with an unforgettable presence. He just wanted to make people smile and laugh. Even though he was small in stature you wouldn’t notice with his big personality.
