Eugene Love Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 1, 2025.
Eugene Sylvester Love, a man whose existence was characterized by deep faith, relentless work ethic, and contagious humor, passed away on September 28th, 2025. He leaves behind a legacy rich in resilience and love. Born in Cuero, Eugene was the cherished youngest son of the late Richard and Mary Agnes Love.

Seeking opportunity and a brighter future, Gene, as he was known, made a pivotal move to Houston to forge his own path. He quickly established himself there, becoming a self-made business owner. With grit and skill, he successfully ran his own mechanic shop, working tirelessly to provide and to instill the value of hard work in his children. Gene's expertise was far-reaching; he loved sharing his wisdom, whether it was through practical advice or the deeper life lessons gained from tough experiences.

Gene was a man of humble and simple pleasures, always preferring a genuine visit and a lighthearted conversation over any material possession. Upon retiring from city business, he returned to the land that nourished his soul, moving to Hopkinsville, where he transitioned to the demanding yet rewarding life of a rancher, establishing his new livelihood. This transition from urban life to the open pastures speaks volumes about his versatile spirit and deep connection to his family roots.

Above all else, Eugene was a strong Christian who held onto his faith despite life's circumstances. To know Gene was to laugh with him. He was a comedian in his own right, upholding a tradition of humor that defined the Love family. His greatest pleasure was simply to make people smile and see folks enjoying each other. His sharp wit was a gift he shared freely. He also loved passing on his knowledge of cars and the country life with his family and friends.

Eugene is preceded in death and now reunited with those he missed: his former wife, Venola Love; his son, Reginald; his daughter, Mia; and his granddaughter, Necole. He also joins his siblings, Richard Jr., Joel, Erma Lee, Sydney, and Margree.

His enduring spirit and memory will be carried on by his four devoted children, Darla; Patrick and his wife Robbin; Kayron and her husband Martin; and Jayron and his wife Jennifer. His life story will continue through his seven loving grandchildren and seven precious great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Robert and Beaulah, and will forever be a part of their story.

We bid farewell to Eugene Sylvester Love, celebrating a life that was a testament to independence, simple joys, unwavering faith, and the profound gift of a shared laugh. Though his voice is silenced, the echo of his humor and the lessons of his hard-earned wisdom will resonate for generations to come.
