Eugene Makara passed away peacefully on June 19, 2025, in West Virginia. Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Eugene and Loraine Makara. Eugene grew up in Lowell and spent the majority of his life there, later making his home in Bedford, New Hampshire for 18 years before settling in West Virginia for the past two. Known for his strong work ethic and quiet determination, Eugene began working at a young age and eventually discovered a deep passion for stonework. He founded and operated Makara Stone, a business he poured his heart into for many years. He was truly proud of his craft, and his talent showed in every wall, fountain, and custom piece he created. Whether building by hand or designing something special for a client, Eugene found joy in the work and satisfaction in a job well done. Outside of work, Eugene cherished time with his family. He especially adored his grandchildren, who were the light of his life. He is survived by his four children: Eugene Makara Jr. of West Virginia, Leeann Makara of Nashua, NH, Matthew Makara and his wife Holly of New Hampshire, and April Makara of Olathe, Kansas. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Eugene Makara III, Jacob Makara, Peyton Makara, and Aurora Makara. His legacy lives on in the family he loved and the stonework that stands as a testament to his life's passion. FUNERAL NOTICE
