Michael D. Makara, 61 of Springfield, formerly of Tampa, FL and New Kensington, PA, died early Saturday afternoon, January 11, 2025 in the comfort of his home, with his life partner Ken by his side.
He was born and educated in New Kensington, PA, on August 28, 1963, and was a graduate of Valley Junior Senior High School Class of 1981. Michael was employed for over thirty plus years as a bartender/waiter for most of his life.
He moved to Tampa, FL, in 1985 where he resided for twenty-years. During this period of his life, Michael was awarded the top-rated bartender in the Greater Tampa area on several occasions.
In 2005, he moved to Springfield, to join his life partner Kenneth E Deyo, where they remained living until his passing.
Mike was employed during this time as a bartender/waiter at the former Olive Garden Restaurant, which was located on Boston Road until its closing in March of 2020.
He had an eclectic ear for all types of music, but his favorite entertainer was Cher whom he had the privilege of seeing in concert four times during his life.
He leaves his partner of 20-years, Kenneth Deyo of Springfield; along with many friends and acquaintances whom he entertained while bartending at the Olive Garden and numerous restaurants in Florida.
