Rev. Eugene Martin was born March 3, 1950 to the late Vernell Martin and Lora Barnes. Rev.Martin transitioned to God's eternal glory from this life at Wesley Medical Center in Hattiesburg, MS on November 28, 2024. He attended school at Eva Gordon and also Southwest Mississippi Community College for a few semesters studying Criminal Justice. He served in Vietnam for almost two years as an E4 Radar Operator. Rev. Martin loved his children and grandchildren with all his heart, and there wasn't one thing he wouldn't do for them. He loved to support his family and friends in whatever way he could. You would always see him show up for his family and friends. He loved to attend football and basketball games, and he had his favorite spot at each game where he would sit. In his spare time, He loved getting together with local biker friends to ride his motorcycle on trips and in parades. He also enjoyed detailing all of his vehicles and keeping them nice and clean. He accepted God's call into ministry about ten years ago Rev. Martin loved God and reading the Word of God.
He leaves to cherish his memories: the love of his life, Rosie Martin of McComb, MS. Five sons, Kirkpatrick (Paula) Martin, Jermaine Martin, Antonio Martin, Pastor Kendrick (Sheriel) Martin all of McComb, MS and Jamtoya (Valesha) Martin of Magnolia, MS. Two daughters, Eugenia (Terrence) Grady of McComb, MS and Veronica (Ray) Martin of Columbia, MS. Twenty-two grandchildren, one great grandchild, and four godchildren. Two sisters, Inez Hughes and Barbara (LT) Thornton of McComb, MS. He leaves to cherish a special aunt, Willie Mae Wroten of Tylertown, MS, and a host of cousins, family and friends, who loved him dearly.
The Funeral Service for Mr. Martin is scheduled at 11:00am, Monday, December 09, 2024, at Oak Grove Baptist Church, with interment to follow in Fernwood Cemetery McComb.
