Dr. Eugene A. Mattedo, 88, of Providence, RI, died peacefully at his home on Feb 26th (his Dad's birthday).
He was born in Providence and graduated from Hope High School. He earned a Master's Degree from Columbia and a Doctorate in Political Science from Brown.
He taught at Bryant, the Junior Statesman Program and Rhode Island College in the Political Science Department. He was a charter member of the political science association, Pi Sigma Alpha. He was a consummate intellectual with a distinct gift for languages, and spoke several fluently.
He was the brother of the late Simone and Maurice Matteodo and Mary Lou Hagan. He is survived by his sister Ann Dupre and twelve nieces and nephews. A celebration of his life will be held at a future date. Donations in his memory may be made to St. Ann's Church, 2 Russo St. Providence, RI 02904.
