Obituary of Eugene P. McCabe

McCabe, Eugene P., "Gene" 87, of Mahopac, NY formerly of the Bronx, died peacefully Thursday, February 26th, 2026 at Northern Westchester Hospital while surrounded by his family.

Gene was born on May 26, 1938 in Manhattan, NY to the late Eugene and Jennie McCabe. First generation American he grew up in the Bronx, attended Cardinal Hayes HS and was an avid stickball player. He entered the U.S. Army and served 7 years which included his graduation from the Army Finance Corp.

From the Army, Gene started his long 43 year career in banking as a teller for Manufacturers Hanover, working his way through multiple promotions and bank mergers, up to his retirement as Vice President of Chase Bank.

Gene is the beloved husband of 53 years this St. Patrick's Day to Linda (Cantamessa), loving father to Thomas of Mahopac, NY and Stephen (Kalyn) of Carmel, NY. He is the devoted grandfather of Gavin and Collin McCabe and is also survived by two nieces Heather and Lauren Adessa.

Friends may call at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah, NY on Tuesday, March 3rd from 3:00-7:00 PM.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph's RC Church, 95 Plum Brook Road, Somers, NY on Wednesday, March 4th at 11:30 AM.

Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, 355 Somerstown Turnpike, Somers, NY.
