It is with great sadness that the family of Eugene Edward Mulhern announce his passing. Known lovingly as Gene to his friends and family, he was a man whose life was a testament to the values of faith, love, and dedication. He was born in Queens on December 5th, 1939, to parents who immigrated from Ireland, John Mulhern, a patrolman for the New York City Police Department, and Beatrice Gilhooley, a homemaker.

Gene's early years were marked by a vibrant community that would shape his character and the man he would become. Gene's military service and academic pursuits were a reflection of his commitment to excellence and service. After completing a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics at New York University, Gene served as a junior officer in the Navy and the Navy Reserves. After serving in the Navy, Gene worked as a teacher in the New York City public school system while completing his JD at Saint John's Law School. This commitment to service paved the way for a distinguished career in law. Gene and his siblings were the first generation of their family to attend college, and he rose to Associate General Counsel for GTE and Of Counsel at the law firm Kelly Drye & Warren, where his sharp intellect and unwavering integrity were the cornerstones of his professional life.

Outside of academia and volunteering, Gene was an avid sportsman. The golf courses and tennis courts were his sanctuaries, where he enjoyed not only the games but also the fellowship and friendly competition they brought.

Gene's greatest joy, however, was found in the heart of his home, surrounded by his beloved wife, Eileen, and their daughters, Katherine and Alicia. Each moment spent with his family was cherished as a precious gift, a reminder of the enduring bonds of love and the legacy that he

would leave behind.

Let us celebrate Gene's journey, not with sorrow, but with gratitude for the time we shared with him and the impact he made on our lives. His spirit, characterized by generosity, wisdom, and a warm smile, will forever be etched in the memories of those who loved him. We honor a life well lived, and a man who was truly a blessing to us all.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Catholic Academy of Bridgeport, which trains future leaders through a strong faith-centered approach and academic approach to education.
