Eugene F. Pond 81, of Medway, passed away on Saturday July 13, 2024, after a period of declining health.
He was born on October 24, 1942 in Franklin to the late Hazel Taylor pond Pasquantonio and Clifton Pond. He grew up in Franklin and was educated in Franklin schools.
He later enlisted in the Army and also served in the Army National Guard for several years. After his service in the National Guard he attended Technical School in Boston and became an electronics technician. He worked his entire career at Raytheon in Waltham until his retirement.
He enjoyed spending time with friends and family and would gather with childhood friends for coffee at McDonalds everyday. He was an avid record collector and enjoyed going to auctions and flea markets. His favorites were Elvis and Buddy Holly.
Gene is survived by his nieces Diane Bradshaw of Cumberland, RI and Patricia Zappella of Uxbridge and nephew Clifford Jordan of Attleboro. He is also survived by several great nieces and nephews. He also loved his dog FiFi.
He was predeceased by his sister Mabel Jordan, his brothers Alvin Pond and Clifford Pond and his step-father John Pasquantonio and his nephews, Walter Jordan and Stephen Jordan and his niece Linda Sigmund.
His funeral will be held Thursday July 18th from the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. with visitation from 9-10:30AM followed by a funeral Mass at St. Mary's Church, Franklin at 11AM.
Burial with military honors will follow at Pondville Cemetery, Norfolk.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be sent to a charity of one's choice.
