Swedberg Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. - ShawanoEugene Norman Schultz, Sr., age 81, passed away on Thursday March 19, 2026, in Shawano. Eugene was born on March 7, 1945, in Birnamwood to the late Leona Schultz. He served his country proudly in the United States Army stationed in Germany in 1965 until 1967 as a Arms Officer. After returning from his time in the Army, he worked at Schwartz Sales and Service, as a mechanic and wrecker service; retiring in 2006. In August of 1971, Eugene was united in marriage to Irene Jordon in Gresham. After marriage the couple lived in Leopolis; together the couple had a son, Eugene, Jr.. They had a wonderful 50 years together before Irene’s passing in 2021. His greatest accomplishment was to be a father to Irene’s children he was proud to be called dad by them. Eugene cherished the memories and the moment that were created between them along with the unconditional love that he gave them. The moment he became a grandfather he gave them the same guidance and love that his showed to his children. The door was always open when there was a problem and Eugene was ready to share his knowledge of the world with them. When the great-grandchildren arrived his heart swelled and made sure they were given the best of the best and lots of love. Eugene loved his many titles husband, father, papa and great-grandfather.
Eugene is survived by his children, Eugene Schultz, Jr., Steve (Georgia) Daney, Cindy Kation and Chuck Kation; and grandchildren, Shane Daney and Shawn Daney; great-grandchildren, Shawna Daney, Nick Daney, Seneca Daney and Shyann Daney.
Eugene is preceded in death by his wife, Irene; brother, Edward Greinke; and mother, Leona Schultz.
A graveside service will be held at noon on Friday, April 24, 2026, at Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano. Military honors will be held at Shawano American Legion Post #117.
