Eugene "Gene" Schwartz

Our family mourns the loss of our loving husband, father and papa, Eugene Schwartz who passed away on January 30, 2026 at the age of 77. Predeceased by his parents, Bernard and Shirley [Sternberg] Schwartz, brother-in-law, Richard Buchwald; and nephew, Jackson Rohm. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Barbara [Battler] Schwartz; daughters, Andrea (Craig) Rigney & Sandra (Todd) Ordan; grandchildren, Jenna, Ethan, Jacob, Max & Anna; sisters, Carol Buchwald and Ellen (Martin Schiffman) Abel; brother-in-law, Bruce (Judy) Battler; nieces & nephews, Lisa, Adam, Tahlia, Daniella, Susie and Amy; many cousins and a community of dear friends.

Funeral Services will be held on MONDAY February 2, 2026 at 10 AM in Temple Sinai [ 363 Penfield Road ]. CLICK HERE for a map to Temple.

He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He led a very active life, including volunteering at Highland Hospital, AARP, serving on the Board at Temple Sinai and at Temple Hesed Abraham in Jamestown NY. All of this when he wasn't with friends or telling inappropriate jokes to his grandchildren.

Known as the life of the party to everyone who knew him, he truly defined "living life to the fullest". His family and grandchildren were what he lived for most and he will be missed beyond words. Our lives are forever changed but knowing his memory lives on in us will keep us going. As our dear friend says "He had a good run, we just wish it would have lasted longer".
